The Garmin Running Dynamics Pod is hardy noticed with a weight of just 12 g. Although its inside offers the most modern technology! In the module of the Garmin Running Dynamics Pod, an acceleration sensor is integrated, which measures the body movement to calculate six parameters for running efficiency:
- The cadence is the number of steps per minute. It displays the number of total steps (cumulated for right and left).
- The balance of the floor contact time displays the ratio (left/right) of your floor contact time while running. It is displayed in per cent. For instance, it is displayed as 53.2 together with an arrow which points to the left or to the right.
- The stride length is the length of your step from one step to the other. It is measured in metres.
- The vertical movement is the up-down movement while running. It displays the vertical movement of your upper body in centimetres for each step.
- The vertical ratio describes the relation of the vertical movement to the stride length. It is displayed in per cent. A lower value indicates in general a better running shape/technique.
The floor contact time is the time per step, which you need for touching the on the floor while running. It is measured in milli seconds.
The Garmin Running Dynamics Pod is attached in the middle of the running pants and measures here the values of running efficiency above mentioned, which contribute to the optimisation of the running training. Wearing a chest strap is not required.
As the Garmin Running Dynamics Pod turns on and off automatically, the replaceable batteries (CR1632) can be used up to one year (when used one hour a day).
